Term: Independent Sales Organization [ISO]

« Back to Glossary Index

An ISO is a third party sales organization that has been authorized to represent an acquirer or acquirer/processor alliance to sell payment card processing services to merchants. Typically, the salespeople who contact a small to medium merchant work for an ISO. The acquirer or processors salespeople generally try to secure larger merchants and chains. An ISO is generally free to add their own mark-up to the services they sell.
